Life at 29: Somewhere Between “I’ve Got This” and “What Am I Doing?”
Life at 29: Somewhere Between “I’ve Got This” and “What Am I Doing?” 😂
Welcome to 29 — the age where you’re technically an adult, but emotionally you still need your mom to tell you where you kept your charger.
Twenty-nine is a weird little chapter.
You’re not 20 anymore, when life felt like one giant adventure.
You’re not 30 yet, when everyone suddenly expects you to have a five-year plan, a retirement plan, and apparently a skincare routine.
You’re just… 29.
And honestly? It’s kind of hilarious.
At 29, your priorities change.
At 21:
“Let’s go out tonight!”
At 29:
“What time are we coming back?”
At 21:
“I can survive on four hours of sleep.”
At 29:
“If I don’t sleep for eight hours, I will personally file a complaint against the universe.”
At 21:
“Money will come.”
At 29:
“WHERE DID MY MONEY GO?”
Suddenly, your bank account has become your most toxic relationship.
Your friend circle gets… interesting.
At 29, making plans is no longer:
“Guys, party tonight?”
It becomes:
“Are you free?”
“Yes.”
“Where?”
“Somewhere quiet.”
“What time?”
“Before 10.”
And someone will still cancel because:
“Yaar, I’m tired.”
And you understand.
Because you are tired too.
You start appreciating boring things.
A clean room.
Fresh bedsheets.
A good cup of coffee.
An uninterrupted shower.
Someone cancelling plans.
A fully charged phone.
Finding money in an old bag.
Getting eight hours of sleep.
And the ultimate luxury:
Having absolutely nothing to do.
At 29, peace starts looking more attractive than excitement.
Then comes the comparison game.
You open Instagram.
Someone is getting married.
Someone is buying a house.
Someone is travelling the world.
Someone has started a business.
Someone is having a baby.
Someone has become a CEO.
Someone is posting:
“29 and thriving ✨”
Meanwhile, you’re sitting on your bed thinking:
“I forgot why I opened Instagram.”
But here’s the thing:
Your life is not late.
You don't have to reach every milestone just because someone else reached theirs.
Some people find love at 22.
Some at 32.
Some build careers early.
Some completely change careers at 29.
Some know exactly what they want.
Some are still figuring it out.
And some of us are doing both depending on the day.
29 teaches you boundaries.
You slowly stop explaining yourself to everyone.
You stop chasing people who don't choose you.
You stop saying “yes” just to keep everyone happy.
You learn that protecting your peace isn't selfish.
And you finally understand:
Not every argument needs your participation.
Sometimes the most mature response is:
“Okay.”
And then going home.
Your body also starts sending you emails.
At 20:
“Let's eat junk food!”
At 29:
“We need to discuss what you just ate.”
One late night and your body acts like you've committed a serious crime.
One bad sleeping schedule and suddenly your entire system has submitted a resignation letter.
And somehow, your biggest health goal becomes:
“I should probably drink more water.”
But 29 is also beautiful.
Because you're beginning to know yourself.
You know what you like.
You know what you absolutely don't like.
You know which people bring peace and which people bring unnecessary drama.
You know that success isn't always about having more.
Sometimes success is simply waking up and thinking:
“I actually like the person I'm becoming.”
And maybe that's what 29 is really about.
Not having everything figured out.
Not having the perfect career.
Not having the perfect relationship.
Not having a perfectly organised life.
But having enough experience to say:
“I've survived everything that once scared me.”
So, here's to 29. 🥂
To changing your mind.
To starting over.
To making mistakes.
To embarrassing memories that randomly attack you at 2 AM.
To paying bills.
To learning boundaries.
To choosing yourself.
To losing people who weren't meant to stay.
To meeting people who feel like home.
To dreams that are still waiting.
To becoming softer without becoming weaker.
And to realizing that life doesn't have to look perfect to be beautiful.
29 isn't the deadline.
It's not the end of youth.
It's not the age where you're supposed to have everything figured out.
It's simply another year of becoming more you.
So if you're 29 and still figuring life out…
Congratulations.
