The Age of “I’m Figuring It Out”

The Age of “I’m Figuring It Out” ✨

Your late 20s are a strange little chapter of life.

You’re old enough to remember life before smartphones were everywhere, but young enough to still Google, “How to look like I have my life together.”

You have responsibilities, dreams, bills, and occasionally, absolutely no idea what you’re doing.

And somehow, everyone expects you to have a five-year plan.

Welcome to your late 20s. 😂

1. You’re Not a Kid Anymore… But You’re Not Exactly an Adult Either

In your early 20s, you could say, “I’m young, I have time.”

In your late 20s, you say, “I’m young, I have time…”

…and then immediately open a budgeting app.

You start thinking about savings, career growth, health, and whether buying another unnecessary water bottle is financially responsible.

You still want to have fun, but now fun sometimes means cancelling plans and sleeping early.

And honestly? That’s growth. 😌

2. Everyone Seems to Be Ahead of You

Someone is getting married.

Someone is buying a house.

Someone is travelling the world.

Someone is launching a business.

And someone is posting, “My biggest blessing is my beautiful family.”

Meanwhile, you’re sitting on your bed thinking:

“Should I change my career, start a business, move cities, learn a new skill, or just have dinner?”

The comparison game is exhausting.

But here’s the truth: You are not late. You are living your own timeline.

Life is not a race where everyone starts at the same time and reaches the same destination.

Some people find their dream job at 22.

Some find it at 29.

Some change careers at 35.

Some discover that their dream was completely different from what they thought.

There is no universal deadline for becoming who you want to be.

3. Your Friend Circle Starts Changing

In your late 20s, friendships become less about talking every day and more about understanding each other.

You may not meet every weekend.

You may not reply instantly.

Everyone has work, responsibilities, relationships, and their own struggles.

But the real ones?

They still celebrate your wins.

They still check on you.

They still make you laugh like you’re 19 again.

And sometimes, you realise that having two genuine friends is better than having twenty people who barely know you.

4. You Start Choosing Peace Over Proving a Point

Your early 20s may have been about proving yourself.

Proving you’re smart.

Proving you’re successful.

Proving you’re worthy.

Your late 20s slowly teach you that you don’t need to explain yourself to everyone.

You don’t need to attend every event.

You don’t need to respond to every opinion.

You don’t need to stay where you feel unwanted.

You start asking:

“Does this make me happy?”

Not just:

“Will people approve?”

And that is a beautiful kind of freedom.

5. Your Dreams Are Still Alive

Maybe you thought you would have achieved everything by now.

Maybe you imagined yourself famous, financially independent, travelling, or living your dream life.

And maybe you’re not there yet.

But that doesn’t mean your dreams are over.

It means you’re still building.

Your late 20s can be the perfect time to start again.

Start the business.

Apply for the job.

Learn the skill.

Move to the city.

Create the content.

Take the audition.

Write the book.

Go after the dream you were too scared to chase at 21.

You are not too old to begin. You are old enough to begin with intention.

6. Your Body Starts Sending You Notifications

In your early 20s:

“Let’s stay up all night!”

In your late 20s:

“Let’s stay up all night!”

Your body:

“Request denied.” 😭

You start appreciating sleep, hydration, exercise, and eating something other than instant noodles.

You realise that taking care of yourself is not boring.

It’s necessary.

And no, you don’t have to become a fitness influencer.

Sometimes, self-care is simply drinking enough water and going to bed before midnight.

7. You Learn That Money Matters… But So Does Meaning

Your late 20s can make you think seriously about money.

You want stability.

You want independence.

You want to help your family.

You want to enjoy life without checking your bank balance every five minutes.

And that’s okay.

Wanting money doesn’t make you materialistic.

Wanting a meaningful career doesn’t make you unrealistic.

The goal is to build a life where you can support yourself and enjoy being alive.

Because what’s the point of working so hard if you never give yourself permission to live?

8. You Become More Comfortable With Yourself

You start understanding your likes, dislikes, boundaries, and values.

You stop trying to be everyone’s favourite person.

You realise that being different is not a problem.

You don’t have to dress like everyone else.

Think like everyone else.

Live like everyone else.

You can be soft and ambitious.

Independent and emotional.

Confident and still learning.

You can want a successful career and a peaceful life.

You can be single and happy.

You can be in love and still have your own dreams.

You are allowed to be a whole person.

9. You Stop Waiting for the “Perfect Time”

The perfect time to start saving?

The perfect time to travel?

The perfect time to launch your dream?

The perfect time to become confident?

Spoiler alert: the perfect time rarely arrives with a notification.

Sometimes, you just have to start with what you have.

A small step.

A small plan.

A little courage.

And a willingness to learn as you go.

Because confidence doesn’t always come before action.

Sometimes, confidence comes from taking action.

10. Your Late 20s Are Not a Crisis. They’re a Construction Site.

You are not falling behind.

You are building.

Building your career.

Building your confidence.

Building your relationships.

Building your financial independence.

Building a life that actually feels like yours.

And yes, construction sites can be messy.

There may be delays.

Unexpected expenses.

A few emotional breakdowns.

And absolutely no idea where the instructions went.

But that doesn’t mean the building isn’t happening.

It is.

One day at a time.

Final Thoughts

Your late 20s are not about having everything figured out.

They’re about learning what matters to you.

They’re about becoming more honest with yourself.

They’re about making choices that your future self will thank you for.

And they’re about realising that life is not supposed to look perfect at 28, 29, or any other age.

So if you’re in your late 20s and feeling a little lost, remember:

You are not behind. You are not too old. You are not running out of time.

You are becoming.

And that is more than enough. 🤍

Here’s to the late 20s—the era of growing, glowing, and figuring it out. ✨
